Pediatrics Cross-Training

Pediatric patients are not simply small adults. Treating this special population requires a different approach, with a different set of clinical skills. The Pediatric Series provides training in a broad range of areas of concern, ranging from basic subjects such as pediatric growth, to advanced topics such as pediatric emergency care and resuscitation. The Basic Level provides a solid foundation for pediatric skills development.

  • Concepts in Pediatric Considerations: Pediatric Developmental Considerations (1.5 hr)

  • Pediatric Growth: Height, Weight, Head Circumference (1.5 hr)

  • Pediatric Vital Signs: Temperature (2 hr)

  • Pediatric Vital Signs: Pulse, Respirations, Blood Pressure (2 hr)

  • Identifying and Managing Pain in Children (1.5 hr)

  • Pediatric Medication Calculation and Administration (1.5 hr)

  • Pediatric Hydration and Fluid Volume Distribution (2 hr)

  • Pediatric Complete Blood Count, Reticulocyte Count, WBC Differential, and Absolute Neutrophil Count (1.5 hr)

  • Pediatric Liver Function Tests (2 hr)

  • Family-Centered Care/Cultural Aspects in Pediatrics (1.5 hr)

  • Approach to Pediatric Physical Assessment (1.5 hr)

  • Pediatrics: Pediatric Respiratory Assessment (1.5 hr)
